How to Measure

Because every ITHI Couture piece is made-to-measure, your measurements are the foundation of the fit. Take a few minutes to measure carefully — it makes all the difference.

What you'll need

  • A soft measuring tape (not a rigid ruler)
  • A well-fitted t-shirt or the undergarments you'd normally wear with the outfit
  • Ideally, a friend or family member to help — self-measuring is possible but less accurate

Method 1: Measuring your body

Bust
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it parallel to the floor. Don't pull it tight — it should sit snugly but comfortably.

Waist
Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the belly button.

Hip
Measure around the fullest part of your hips, roughly 20cm / 8 inches below your waist.

Shoulder
Measure straight across your back from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other.

Sleeve Length
With your arm slightly bent, measure from the edge of your shoulder to your wrist bone.

Full Length
Measure from the base of your neck (shoulder point) straight down to where you'd like the garment to end.

Method 2: Measuring a garment that already fits you (recommended if you're unsure)

If you're not confident measuring your body directly, this is often more reliable. Take a top or dress that already fits you well, lay it flat on a table, and measure it instead:

  • Bust: measure straight across from armpit to armpit, then double it
  • Waist: measure straight across at the narrowest point, then double it
  • Shoulder: measure straight across from shoulder seam to shoulder seam
  • Sleeve Length: measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff
  • Full Length: measure from the shoulder seam straight down to the hem

This method avoids common mistakes like pulling the tape too tight or standing awkwardly while measuring yourself, and tends to be more accurate for first-time made-to-measure orders.

A few tips

  • Keep the tape snug but not tight — you should be able to slide a finger underneath
  • Stand naturally, don't suck in or puff out
  • Measure twice to be sure, especially for bust, waist, and hip
  • When in doubt, note down the actual number rather than rounding to a standard size — that's the whole point of made-to-measure

Submitting your measurements

Enter your measurements in the fields provided on the product page before adding to cart. Once your order is placed, we'll confirm your measurements with you before production begins — so if anything looks off, we'll catch it together before your garment is cut.
